Scarf Manufacturing Company China โ€” Custom OEM, Private Label & Bulk Production

WeaveEssence is a factory-direct knitwear manufacturer supplying wholesale buyers, importers, distributors and brands with fully specified, branded scarves and winter accessories. No trading company. No subcontracting. Every programme managed by the factory team from specification through export.

WeaveEssence is a scarf manufacturing company in China operating five dedicated OEM programmes โ€” each structured around a specific buyer procurement requirement rather than a generic factory catalogue. Whether you need full custom design-to-delivery OEM production, private label supply with no factory branding on packaging, a low-MOQ trial for a new seasonal style, high-volume bulk contracts with fixed delivery windows, or a coordinated knitwear range extending beyond scarves, we have a defined production path for each requirement.

All programmes run through a single integrated factory in Zhejiang Province โ€” which means one quality standard, one compliance certificate set, and one technical team managing your specification from yarn selection through pre-shipment inspection. The standard sample lead time is 10โ€“15 working days, and production MOQ is 500 pcs per style per colour across all individual item programmes.

๐Ÿ“Š Key Manufacturing Data โ€” WeaveEssence
  • MOQ: 500 pcs per style per colour (individual items); 300 sets per configuration (coordinated accessories sets)
  • Sample lead time: 10โ€“15 working days from specification confirmation
  • Bulk production lead time: 25โ€“35 days from sample approval and 30% deposit receipt
  • Customisation: Pantone colour matching, jacquard knit logo, woven label, hang tag, retail packaging โ€” all in-house
  • Certifications: OEKO-TEX Standard 100, BSCI, GRS โ€” documentation supplied with every shipment
  • Export: EXW, FOB, CIF, DDP โ€” Incoterm selected at RFQ stage; FOB Ningbo standard

Factory-Direct vs Trading Company: What the Difference Means for Your Order

Wholesale buyers sourcing custom scarves frequently receive quotes from both factory-direct manufacturers and trading companies representing multiple factories. The distinction affects unit economics, QC accountability and specification accuracy โ€” all of which compound across a season’s supply chain.

Factor Factory-Direct (WeaveEssence) Trading Company
Unit pricing Ex-factory cost โ€” no intermediary margin Factory cost + 15โ€“35% trading company markup
QC accountability Factory manages inline and final QC directly QC delegated to a factory the buyer has not audited
Specification accuracy Direct to production team โ€” no translation layer Specification passed through intermediary; error risk higher
Customisation depth Full spec flexibility โ€” knit structure, yarn, colour, branding Limited to what the sourced factory accepts
Compliance documentation Factory-issued OEKO-TEX, BSCI, GRS certificates โ€” verifiable Certificates may be from the factory, not the trading company
Audit access Factory address and BSCI audit available for verification Factory identity may not be disclosed
“A trading company quote is not a factory quote. The unit price difference โ€” 15โ€“35% per unit โ€” on a 2,000-unit order funds an entire additional SKU at factory-direct pricing.”

WeaveEssence is the manufacturer. All production happens in our Zhejiang facility. When a buyer submits a specification, the response comes from the team that runs the knitting machines โ€” not from a broker coordinating with an unknown factory. Our BSCI audit certificate, factory address and ISO-referenced QC procedures are available for buyer verification at the quotation stage.

Five Manufacturing Programmes

Each programme is structured around a defined buyer requirement โ€” not a one-size approach. Select the programme that matches how you actually procure knitwear.

OEM vs ODM โ€” Which Programme Fits Your Sourcing Model

Buyers approaching a scarf manufacturing company typically operate under one of two models. Understanding which applies to your situation determines how the programme runs, how long sampling takes, and what tooling costs are involved.

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) โ€” Your design, our production. Buyers with an existing tech pack, reference sample or design team use the OEM route. WeaveEssence produces to the buyer’s exact specification โ€” yarn content, knit structure, dimensions, colour, branding, and packaging โ€” under the buyer’s brand. The factory does not retain design rights. Best for: established brands, licensed merchandise buyers, retailers with proprietary design standards. See the full Custom Scarf OEM programme.

ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) โ€” Our base designs, your branding. Buyers without in-house design capability select from WeaveEssence’s ODM catalogue โ€” 80+ base scarf and knitwear designs across constructions, weights and yarn types โ€” and apply their colourway, labels and packaging. ODM orders typically save 8โ€“12 days in the sample phase because base patterns are already programmed. Best for: e-commerce brands launching winter collections, regional distributors adding a new category, corporate gifting programmes requiring a fast-turn branded product. See the Private Label Scarf programme.

Common Misconception

“Custom manufacturing requires large MOQs that only major retailers can meet.”

Reality

WeaveEssence’s structured OEM programme starts at 500 pcs per style per colour โ€” accessible to regional distributors, e-commerce brands and mid-size retail buyers. 500 pcs covers full custom colour, woven labels, hang tags and colour selection from our certified yarn palette. Coordinated accessories sets start from 300 sets per configuration. See our full MOQ & Pricing Guide.

Material Specifications Available for Custom Production

All yarn sourcing is traceable to verified spinners with fibre certification available on request. The material selection for a custom programme is determined by the buyer’s market, budget and compliance requirements โ€” our technical team advises on the appropriate specification at the RFQ stage.

For a complete overview of material options and their performance characteristics, see the Material Guide. For knit construction options โ€” jacquard, intarsia, flat knit, cable โ€” see the Production Techniques section.

The Custom Scarf Production Process โ€” 6 Stages From Brief to Export-Ready Shipment

“The quality of a custom scarf programme is determined in the first 72 hours โ€” at specification review. Buyers who submit a complete brief with fibre content, dimensions, knit structure, Pantone code and branding requirements reduce sample revision cycles by an average of 1โ€“2 rounds.”
01

RFQ Submission and Feasibility Review (Day 1โ€“2)

Buyer submits inquiry with product type, quantity, material preference, colour specification and branding requirements. WeaveEssence production team confirms feasibility, yarn availability and lead time within 2 working days. Preliminary unit pricing issued at this stage.

02

Technical Specification Confirmation (Day 2โ€“5)

Buyer approves or refines the spec sheet. WeaveEssence issues a formal specification including: knit construction, yarn weight (grams per metre), finished dimensions, Pantone colour code, branding placement and packaging specification. Both parties sign off before sample production begins.

03

Pre-Production Sample (Day 5โ€“20)

Sample produced to confirmed specification and dispatched by DHL express to buyer. Transit time is typically 3โ€“5 working days to North America and Europe. One revision round is included. Buyers who approve the first sample proceed directly to bulk production. For full timelines and what affects sample turnaround, see the Sampling & Lead Time guide.

04

Bulk Production (Day 20โ€“55)

Commences on receipt of signed sample approval and 30% deposit. Inline QC checkpoint at 30% production completion โ€” colourway, stitch gauge and dimensions verified against approved sample. Progress report issued to buyer at 50% completion milestone.

05

Final QC and Pre-Shipment Inspection (Day 50โ€“58)

AQL 2.5 sampling inspection at 80% production completion. Third-party inspection (QIMA / Bureau Veritas / SGS) coordinated at this stage if requested. Full QC report โ€” including colour fastness and dimensional data โ€” issued to buyer before shipment confirmation.

06

Export Preparation and Shipment (Day 58โ€“65)

Full export documentation prepared: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, OEKO-TEX certificate, HS code classification. Shipped on buyer’s preferred Incoterm โ€” EXW, FOB, CIF or DDP. Tracking information and complete document set sent to buyer on shipment day.

Starting a custom scarf programme and not sure where to begin with specifications?

Our factory team can work from a reference sample, a mood board or a basic brief. We issue a spec sheet for your review before any sample cost is incurred โ€” so there are no surprises at the production stage.

Multi-SKU consolidation: buyers ordering scarves and beanies, or scarves and gloves, can consolidate in a single FOB Ningbo shipment.

“Three questions every buyer should ask a custom scarf manufacturer: (1) Is the factory quoting from their own production lines โ€” or from a third-party factory they’ll subcontract to? (2) What happens when bulk production doesn’t match the approved sample? (3) Can the factory show production records from previous orders at your volume?”

WeaveEssence’s answers: (1) All production is in-house โ€” verifiable by BSCI audit and factory address. (2) Inline QC at 30% and AQL 2.5 at 80% catch deviations before full production is complete; deviation resolution policy is in the contract. (3) Production data โ€” lead time adherence, defect rates, reorder rates โ€” is available to serious wholesale buyers at the quotation stage.

Frequently Asked Questions โ€” Scarf Manufacturing

Can WeaveEssence produce from a reference sample I provide?
Yes. Reference sample matching is standard practice. Send a physical sample or detailed photos with measurements โ€” WeaveEssence assesses feasibility, identifies yarn and construction match, and quotes within 2 working days. Physical sample is preferred for accurate fibre content analysis.
What is included in the pre-production sample cost?
Sample cost covers material sourcing, production and DHL express shipping to your location. The sample fee is credited in full against your first bulk order. One revision round is included at no additional charge. See the Sampling & Lead Time guide for full details on what affects sample turnaround.
Can I order multiple colourways with split quantities?
Yes. When total order volume exceeds 2,000 units, WeaveEssence accepts split SKU orders with a minimum of 500 units per colour per style. For Pantone custom colour programmes, each colourway requires 500 units minimum regardless of split structure.
Does WeaveEssence handle export documentation for customs clearance?
Yes. All standard export documents are prepared by WeaveEssence: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, OEKO-TEX certificate and HS code classification. DDP orders include import clearance management to the buyer’s destination warehouse.
What is the lead time for a rush custom scarf order?
Rush bulk production is available for select standard constructions at a 15โ€“20 day timeline (versus standard 25โ€“35 days). Rush orders require a pre-approved sample or signed spec sheet at order confirmation โ€” no sample revision cycle is possible on rush programmes. A rush surcharge applies.
What payment terms are available?
Standard terms: 30% deposit at order confirmation, 70% balance before shipment. T/T (bank transfer) is standard. For buyers with established accounts (3+ completed orders), extended terms may be available. Letter of credit (LC) accepted for orders above USD 30,000.
Can WeaveEssence produce fan scarves with club logos and licensed marks?
Yes, for buyers who hold the licensing rights. WeaveEssence produces to the buyer’s specification and does not verify licensing independently. Factory compliance certificates for licensing body submissions are available on request. See the Sports & Fan Clubs programme for full details.

Key Terms โ€” Custom Scarf Manufacturing

Tech Pack (Technical Package)
A document specifying every production detail of an accessory: dimensions, materials, construction method, colour codes, branding placement, packaging and labelling. A complete tech pack reduces sample revision cycles and production specification errors.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
The factory produces to the buyer’s design specification and under the buyer’s brand. The buyer retains design ownership. WeaveEssence acts as the OEM manufacturer โ€” every production detail is specified by the buyer.
ODM (Original Design Manufacturer)
The factory provides existing base designs that the buyer customises with their colourway, labels and packaging. Faster to market than full OEM, with lower setup cost, because base knit patterns are already programmed and tested.
Jacquard Knitting
A knitting process where a logo or multi-colour pattern is structurally integrated into the knit fabric โ€” not applied on top. Requires one-time programming setup. Produces a premium, durable branded finish with precise Pantone colour replication. MOQ 500 pcs. See the Production Techniques guide for full construction options.
Pantone Matching System (PMS)
A standardised colour identification system used globally in manufacturing. Buyers specify a Pantone code; the factory dyes yarn to match within a guaranteed tolerance measured using Delta E. WeaveEssence colour tolerance standard: Delta E โ‰ค 1.0 at shipment.
AQL 2.5 (Acceptable Quality Level)
ISO 2859-1 sampling standard. At AQL 2.5, the maximum accepted defect rate at standard inspection confidence level is 2.5%. The industry benchmark for knitted accessory wholesale export orders. WeaveEssence applies AQL 2.5 at final pre-shipment inspection on all bulk orders.
FOB (Free On Board)
Seller clears goods for export and delivers to the buyer’s named port. Buyer manages freight, insurance and import clearance from the FOB point. WeaveEssence standard export term is FOB Ningbo.
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)
Seller manages all logistics including import duties and customs clearance to the buyer’s named destination. Maximum convenience for the buyer. WeaveEssence offers DDP to major markets including USA, UK and EU member states.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
An independent certification verifying that every component of a textile product โ€” yarn, dye, label, thread โ€” has been tested for harmful substances. Required for retail import into EU and many US retail chain programmes. WeaveEssence holds current OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification across all product lines. View certifications.
